Turning P.G. Meals back into P.G. Snacks

This idea popped into my head while I was riding the train home from Belgium last week. I had met up with Jan, Daan and Mei last weekend for a tryout workshop in Belgium. The thing was, it was really starting to bother me that P.G. Snacks wasn’t going the way I had wanted it to.
On one hand this is due to the small amount of posts I put out the past time but as I was riding the train back home I realized there was something more structural that I was not happy with.
The thing is, one of the reasons I came up with the name P.G. Snacks was the catchphrase that I attached. The concept of “Personal development in bitesize chuncks” was born quite some time before the actual name popped into my head.
How I ended up with P.G. Meals instead of Snacks
At the time I was mostly reading other blogs. And, although I was enjoying them, I found that I really had to sit down and reserve some time read the posts. First of all, subjects concerning personal development aren’t like reading comic-books. It’s usually a bit heaver on the mind, processing these (sometimes) new concepts and trying to integrate them into your “framework of the world”. Secondly it was also simply because the posts I was reading were quite long, requiring some time to get through.
Especially when I’m travelling, reading stuff on my iPhone, I noticed I was leaving those “long” articles for later. The combination of “heavy” content and long articles didn’t seem to do it for me. The same thing went for my breaks at work; I really enjoy reading some articles to get my mind on something else. But somehow I was continuously postponing reading some articles even though their titles and captions looked really interesting.

Back to Snacks
This is where I originally came up with the P.G. Snacks concept: Writing compact posts that you can get through in a quick few minutes and yet still make you want to take action to grow.
As I look back now, I didn’t realize that I was not sticking to my own plan. I was working on articles, but as soon as they didn’t turn out to be of enough “volume”, I’d discard them as unworthy of posting (until I could expand them to a proper size). This same straying from my intended path has kept me away from addressing some of the things that are really close to my heart; for instance the realm of spiritual development.
So what now? Well, with this realization firmly embedded in my brain and put out for everyone to see I intend to get back to my initial plan and write smaller articles. Personal development snacks that you can take in one bite, whether you’re on your lunchbreak or travelling with your smartphone.
Please do leave me a comment telling me what you think of this, mail me or send me a tweet.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, encouragements and criticism!
I’ll see you the next time you’re craving for a P.G. Snack
